Overview of Role

We are looking for a candidate to join our thriving and dynamic Fabrication shop, you will learn many engineering skills and operate various machinery including, Pillar drills, Guillotines, Brake press, cut off saws, TIG and MIG welders.

Full Description of role:

A four-year Advanced Level Apprenticeship in metal fabrication/welding. You will be part of a busy Fabrication shop learning key production skills for our range of fabricated parts, you will also learn how to tackle new bespoke components to be manufactured. The role will include on site work at various sites. You will be trained to use a range of machines and develop skills such as:

  • Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to produce fabricated components
  • Assemble various components prior to welding
  • Welding, cleaning and inspection of fabricated components prior to painting
  • Use of various machine and hand tools
  • Use of overhead cranes
  • Use of handheld plasma cutting and oxy/propane cutting

Number of Vacancies: 1

Hourly Rate: £8.50

Working week:37 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 16:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm.

Duration: 4 Years

Full training provided from Swatpro Academy in Yate, BEMA. You will also receive training on site from our skilled Fabricators. The first 3 months training will be carried out in Yate at the Swatpro Academy, you will then be workshop based attending the BEMA training centre on day release.

Enthusiastic, attention to detail, willingness to learn, positive proactive and professional approach. Able to work as part of a team.

Qualifications Required:

4 GCSEs - Math’s, English & Science at Grade 4-9 essential. (or equivalent)

Future Prospects:

Completion of the Apprenticeship is designed to be recognised by relevant Professional Engineering Institutions at the appropriate level of professional registration (EngTech). Our Fabrication shop is growing, we are looking for a forward-thinking person who is keen to be part of and contribute to its continued growth.

Things to consider:

You will need to make your travel arrangements to Yate and Avonmouth.

Possible start date: September 2026.
