Manufacturing Apprentice-Level 3

Power-Sprays has been manufacturing specialist equipment for over 60 years and is a leading manufacturer of specialist equipment for producing Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC). Our subsidiary PS Engineering offers bespoke engineering and manufacturing services.

Overview of Role
We are looking for a candidate to join our thriving and dynamic machine shop. You will learn many engineering skills, including operating CNC/manual lathes, mills, etc.

A four-year Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing. You will be part of a busy machine shop learning key production skills for our range of machined parts, and you will also learn how to tackle new bespoke components to be manufactured. You will be trained to use a range of machines and develop skills such as:

• Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to produce machined components
• Determine the most efficient, effective, and safe approach to machine the component using a range of tools, machining processes, and techniques
• Select and set up the correct tooling and workholding devices
• Set and adjust the machine operating parameters to produce the workpieces to the required specifications. This will involve setting feeds and speeds for roughing and finishing operations
• Select and use a range of measuring and gauging equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy
• Produce complex and specialist components as a one-off test and trial workpiece and/or produce components in small or large batches

Enthusiastic, attention to detail, willingness to learn, positive proactive, and professional approach. Able to work as part of a team.

Qualifications Required: 4 GCSEs - Maths, English & Science at Grade 4-9 essential (or equivalent)

Future Prospects:
Completion of the Apprenticeship is designed to be recognized by relevant Professional Engineering Institutions at the appropriate level of professional registration (EngTech). Our machine shop is growing; we are looking for a forward-thinking person who is keen to be part of and contribute to its continued growth.
