Workshop Instructor

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join the workshop team as a workshop instructor and assessor. The core delivery is machining and fitting up to Level 3 at our Yate Training Centre, with opportunities to delivery in CNC, fabrication, and electrical engineering.

Purpose of Job

Deliver, train, and assess apprentices in the safe use and operation of manual milling, manual turning and hand fitting skills. In addition, if the candidate was to have CNC machining, fabrication or electrical experience would be of a benefit.

Opportunities to plan, develop and contribute to engineering training programmes with delivery, assessment, and support.

Key Responsibility Areas

Training and assessing of Technician Apprenticeship standards including manual milling, manual turning and hand fitting to the guidelines in developing their knowledge, skills, and behaviours to the required standard within the planned time scales.

Support learners to raise their technical and interpersonal skills levels and confidence to ensure that qualifications are achieved, within agreed time scales

To ensure all regulatory Health and Safety standards are maintained by all during training delivery/induction.

Our educators must be capable of motivating students and helping them understand challenging subjects.

Our organisation requires effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to encourage and support students to support their achievement.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • Monday to Thursday 7:30 to 4:30
  • Friday 7:30 to 12:30

Education:

  • Level 3 Machinist (preferred)
  • Assessor award (preferred, but will provide on the job training)

Experience:

  • Industry: 5 years preferred.
  • Teaching: 2 years (preferred, but will provide on the job training)

Swatpro Academy is the south-west’s premier specialist training organisation, and trainers at BEMA have decades of experience in engineering and in education. Apprentices work on acquiring the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to pass the courses, plus assessors will make site visits and are able to advise trainees at their workplaces.
