Sulzer Electro Mechanical Services, based in Bristol, have an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Machinist Apprentice.

Overview of Role
Our Apprentice will be trained in all necessary machining skills and develop their capabilities throughout
the programme in order to become a valuable part of the workshop team and help contribute to
delivering on our commitment to customers.
Hours are: 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday.
Duration is 48 months.
Training provided by Swatpro/BEMA in Yate.
Learn and develop skills in order to:
1.Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines,
machining centres, borers, and grinders.
2.Set up metal spray equipment and apply processes to a finish, on a variety of worn or
defectives parts including shafts, end frames, end housings and associated mechanical
rotating equipment.
3.Measure, examine, and test completed components in order to detect defects and ensure
conformance to specifications.
4.Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic turning & machining centres and machining
tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
5.Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials
onto machines.
6.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
7.Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of
machinery work.
8.Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.
9.Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to
detect or assess problems.

Qualifications required
4 GCSEs - Math’s, English & Science at Grade 4-9 essential. (or equivalent)
