We design and build all our pumps at our site in Bristol and are very proud to be British made. Apex Pumps design and manufacture a wide range of centrifugal pumps for industry, building services, aquaculture, petrochemical plant and many other similar demanding applications.

Overview of Role:

Apex Pumps have an opportunity within our production team. This vacancy will include both training at the Swatpro Academy BEMA and on site at our works, with training provided by dedicated and skilled engineers and covering the following skills areas:-

  • Engineering administration
  • Engineering design
  • Machining and Fitting

At the end of the training it is expected that you will be Integral member of the Engineering Team

Full Description:

Based at our production facility in Bristol, where we produce a diverse range of centrifugal pump components. The engineering support technician will report directly to the engineering team leader, providing technical assistance to the existing engineering and manufacturing team. This includes:

  • Prepare basic general assembly / cross-sections using 2D/3D computer aided design (CAD).
  • Configure detailed product specifications and Bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Manage Business management system database with detailed parts specification and sourcing information.
  • Continuously developing and improving designs, working within company process and procedures
  • Contribute to business continuous improvement projects to improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance.
  • Be responsible for the quality, accuracy and timely completion of the work they undertake.
  • Work both individually and as part of a larger team.
  • Work within the relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidance.

All training will go towards Level 3 Advanced qualification and will be delivered in partnership with the Swatpro Academy BEMA in Yate. Daily duties will be discussed with the successful candidate and developed to meet the aspirations of the individual in line with company requirements.

What is the excepted progression after this apprenticeship:

The apprenticeship aims to provide the participants with the training opportunities to gain a broad range of manufacturing & engineering technical skills, so that once qualified you will be highly regarded by the company.

Apex Pumps has apprentice qualified persons at all levels of the business. As a growing company there are opportunities arising across the business. Completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship could lead to further qualifications or higher education.

Duration: 48 Months: Block release for skills trainng and day release for college.
Working week: Block release at the Swatpro Academy hours / timings tbc. Monday – Thursday 7AM – 3.30PM and Friday 7AM – 12PM (39 hours/week)
