Apprentice Machinist

Providing engineering services, new equipment, workshop services, site services and parts for HV/MV/LV motors and generators, pumps, gearboxes and other rotating machinery. We employee engineering specialists who understand mechanical and electrical plant and equipment. Description

To machine and manufacture/repair engineering components for customers of Avonmouth Engineering Services from drawings, samples or instructions. Working in a high pace environment.

  • Machine setting
  • Manufacturing components to tight tolerance
  • Using manual centre lathes
  • Using manual milling machines
  • Using slotting machines
  • Using Borer's
  • Operate a variety of engineering machine tools in accordance with current H&S legislation
  • Produce work that is of a good standard in a timely manner
  • Be flexible in consideration of working hours
  • Carry out self-inspection of work before passing to customer
  • Self-motivation to work on own or as a team, as required
  • Work in a clean and safe manner, keeping tidy as you go
  • All other reasonable tasks and duties as and when required.

Paid Hours per week: 37.5

Working Week: Working week pattern: (i.e., Monday-Friday) Mon-Thurs: 8:00-4:30 and Fri 8:00-13:30

Duration: 48 Months - First 11 months full time college attendance, followed by day release

Training provided by Swatpro Academy in Yate.

Qualifications Required:

4 GCSEs - Math's, English & Science at Grade 5-9 essential. (or equivalent).
