Advanced Machinist Apprenticeship – Level 3


Apex Pumps have an opportunity for an Apprentice Advanced Machinist within our production team.

This vacancy will include both training at the Swatpro Academy BEMA in Yate and on site at our works in Bristol, with training provided by dedicated and skilled engineers and covering the following skills areas:

  • Manual Machining
  • CNC Machining
  • Fitting and Assembly

At the end of the apprenticeship it is expected that you will be a multi skilled across these disciplines and an integral member of the production team.

This vacancy will give you the skills to become a skilled machine setter, operator and ultimately a CNC programmer. It includes both on- and off-the-job training from a dedicated and skilled team of engineers, spending time in each section of our production teams.

You will be based at our production facility in Bristol, where we produce a diverse range of centrifugal pump components. Plant includes a range of manual and modern CNC machines both turning and milling.

All training will go towards your Level 3 advanced qualification and will be delivered in partnership with the Swatpro Academy BEMA.

Daily duties will be discussed with the successful candidate and developed to meet the aspirations of the individual in line with company requirements.

For the first 10 months you will be based at the Swatpro Academy hours / timings tbc. Thereafter you will be based in company Monday – Thursday 7am – 3.30pm and Friday 7am – 12pm, total 39 hours per week.

The apprenticeship aims to provide the participants with the training opportunities to gain a broad range of manufacturing technical skills, so that once qualified you will be highly regarded by the company.

Apex Pumps has apprentice qualified persons at all levels of the business. As a growing company there are opportunities arising across the operation.

Completion of the Advanced Level Apprenticeship could lead to further qualifications or Higher Education.


Expected apprenticeship duration

48 months.
