First Aider at Work
This 4-day course offers a basic curriculum in a range of first aid competencies needed in your workplace giving your staff the ability to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty.
It includes training in:
- How to act in the event of an emergency
- CPR ( cardio-pulmonary resuscitation )
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds & bleeding
- Burns & scalds
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Shock
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Dealing with a casualty overcome by gas and fumes
- Transportation of a casualty
- Recognise major and minor illnesses and take appropriate action
Your staff will also gain the ability to maintain simple factual records and provide written information to a doctor or hospital if required. They will also gain knowledge on the importance of:
- Personal hygiene in first aid procedures
- The legal framework of first aid provision at work
- The use of first aid equipment provided in the workplace
- The role of first aiders in emergency procedures
Successful candidates will be able to act as first aiders in the work place.
The certification is valid for 3 years and can be renewed by participating in an imperative training first aid at work refresher course upto 3 months before the expiry date of the current certificate.
